Nora: Month 7

Nora's seventh month of life has been full of playdates galore. To celebrate her new friends (and mine!), I decided I should post a couple of pictures:

This one is nothing fancy, but aren't these kiddos cute??

Nora and I met Parker and his mom at a park yesterday. Parker's mom is also a photographer, so we both brought cameras. It was colder than we expected outside, both kids had runny noses, and the sun was at a pretty harsh angle, but here are some photos of the day nonetheless:

This was Nora's first time on a swing! (We apparently need to get out more...why did it take me so long to stick her in one of these?)  Also...doesn't she look CUTE as a Cobber?

Can you see Nora's new teeth?

Something's a comin'...

I am just about jumping out of my skin with excitement for a project that's in the works. The lovely Joa Jean is currently designing a new look for Paper Lemon Photography. I love, love, love Joa's portfolio and can't wait to see what her creative juices come up with for Paper Lemon.

While we wait, here is a little preview that Joa posted on her blog a little while back (for the full story, be sure to check out Joa's blog post):

And here's a nice little layout Joa did of some of my photographs:

Nora: Month 1 and 2

My goal is to take pictures of Nora each month (and hopefully post a few each time as well!).

Here she is at one month old way back in October:

Here was my attempt at being creative with Scrabble letters again…just like when I was 20 weeks pregnant. (Side note: my baby bump was A LOT quieter than the product in these pictures!).

Here are a couple of pictures from my first attempt at Nora’s 2 month shoot:::

Nora has started smiling, but I have yet to capture it on camera. It’s a good thing she’s smiling to brighten our lives, because I have been seeing this face quite a bit lately:::

A good cause.

I visited Sunbeam Boys Home for the first time on a college trip examining social justice in 2003. As soon as I got back, I couldn't stop thinking about the people I met...and I haven't stopped thinking about them since. I have been lucky enough to return to Sunbeam several times since my first visit (and take plenty of pictures, of course!) Click here, here, and here to see pictures and read about my past trips.

I haven't been able to visit Sunbeam for a few years, but I am a part of the American board of directors. Recently, I helped to create a list of Christmas gift ideas for Sunbeam. I've posted the list of gifts and the order form along with gift tags below. If you're interested, you can select an item and donate money for it to Sunbeam as a gift for someone in your life.

And, join Sunbeam on facebook here.

Happy Christmas shopping!

Apple Orchard

A couple of weekends ago my sister and brother-in-law and our nephew Jonah visited. To celebrate the beautiful weather, we took a trip to a local apple orchard, one of my favorite fall activities. And, to celebrate photography, here are some shots from the day - cross processed style!

These aren't apple trees, these are grapevines. Don't be confused.

Last time I took pictures of Jonah he was only about a month old. Look at how grown up he is!

Cloth.

I've thought about the idea of using cloth diapers for awhile now and I'm actually taking the plunge...for 3 weeks anyway.

I heard about a store called Jillian's Drawers from my friend Jodi's blog. Jillian's Drawers lets you try a variety of cloth diapers for 21 days. If you don't like them, you send them back...used and everything. All you pay is shipping. So...much to the dismay of my husband, we're giving them a whirl.

Here is what we got in the mail yesterday:

I'd like to close by saying a special thank you to my daughter for pooping immediately in the first one we tried on her last night. Cloth diaper initiation by wild fire!

New Decks and New Adventures.

I love taking pictures in the fall. (Who am I kidding...I love taking pictures in general.) Because of my crazy health in the past couple of months and the fact that I'm busy learning how to be a new mom I haven't been able to take on a whole lot of clients lately. So...I've decided to start carrying my camera with me on a more regular basis to document life. After all, pictures can tell great stories and great stories surround us every day.

To kick off this new picture taking venture, I whipped out my camera at my grandparent's house last weekend. My grandpa, dad, and husband were working on building a railing for my grandpa's new deck. Here are a few shots of the crew and the day:

This takes talent, don't you think?

Minnesota Food Association: Still Life Project

I had the opportunity to work on a project for Minnesota Food Association last week. They wanted pictures of colorful produce to use for some promotional items, so they called me. What a fun assignment! Most of the veggies you see pictured were picked moments before the photos were taken. And the best part? I got to take a load of veggies home and enjoy them myself. Delicious!

Thanks for the creative project, MFA!

38 Weeks

We're officially 2 weeks away from the due date. Baby Otte could be here at any moment, or could choose to take a few more weeks to incubate. I am feeling larger than ever (as you can see for yourself from these pictures!) and very eager to meet Otte Tot. Let's get this show on the road!

Please appreciate this picture. It took us about 1,357 tries with self timer to get it in focus.
